CUSTOM PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT · B2B

Turn a product direction into a specification that can be sampled, reviewed and produced.

AUROLRA supports custom table linens, natural-fibre homeware and storage products—from an existing reference or buyer brief through material decisions, sampling, private-label presentation and order coordination.

MORE THAN A LIST OF OPTIONS

Useful customisation connects the product idea to how it must work, sell and arrive.

A colour, print or label can be visible, but it is only one part of the decision. Dimensions, construction, intended use, quantity, sales channel, packing and timing can all change what is practical.

AUROLRA helps organise these decisions into a product brief, then coordinates the suitable development and supply route with relevant manufacturing partners. The exact scope is confirmed for each enquiry.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT STARTING POINT

Three practical ways to begin a custom home-product project.

The route can be adjusted as the brief becomes clearer; it does not need to be complete on day one.

02 · DEVELOP

Work from your brief, artwork or sample

Share the intended product, specifications, authorised reference images, artwork or a physical sample. We identify the decisions and unknowns that must be resolved before quotation and sampling.

  • Suitable for a more defined buyer-led specification
  • Technical and commercial alternatives can be compared
  • Submitted content must be authorised for use

03 · COORDINATE

Build a connected private-label collection

Coordinate related products through a shared colour, material or visual story while defining each item's construction, packaging and commercial requirements separately.

  • Useful for retail, hospitality and seasonal programmes
  • Supports labels, barcodes, inserts and pack architecture
  • Each product can follow the appropriate supply route
About OEM and ODM terminology

These terms are used differently across markets. AUROLRA confirms the actual project scope in writing—who supplies the design, what is adapted, which approvals are required and what is included in the quotation—rather than relying on the label alone.

PRODUCT FAMILIES

Apply one development discipline across three connected categories.

Each category has different material and construction decisions. The collection direction may be shared, but the specification must remain product-specific.

BUILD THE SPECIFICATION

Define what matters before asking one sample to answer every question.

Not every field needs to be fixed at the start. Priorities should be visible, so alternatives can be evaluated without losing the purpose of the product.

01 Product & use
Product type, intended user, placement, sales channel and functional priorities.
02 Size & configuration
Finished dimensions, shape, proportions, set relationships and measurement method.
03 Material & construction
Fibre or fabric direction, weight, weave, structure, component details and finish.
04 Colour & surface
Colour reference, print, pattern, embroidery, texture and acceptable appearance range.
05 Brand presentation
Logo use, label, hangtag, barcode, insert, care content and placement.
06 Packaging & sets
Unit pack, band, bag or box, set assembly, protection, carton and channel requirements.
07 Commercial context
Estimated quantity, target market, price position, delivery destination and timing.
08 Compliance needs
Market, product and buyer-specific testing, document or labelling requirements to review.

MAKE TRADE-OFFS VISIBLE

A strong brief gives the project room to become feasible without becoming generic.

Some requests affect each other. A material change may alter drape, structure, colour response, packing or cost. A packaging concept may require a different unit configuration or quantity. These relationships should be reviewed early.

Mark each requirement as:
  • Must keep

Essential to function, brand or market acceptance.

  • Preferred

Important, but alternatives can be evaluated.

  • Open

AUROLRA may propose a suitable route for comparison.

FROM ENQUIRY TO ORDER

A development route with visible decision points.

The number of revisions and approvals depends on the product and brief, but the project should always move against confirmed information.

  1. 01

    Share the direction

Product, use, market, quantity, destination, timing and available references.

  2. 02

    Clarify the brief

Separate fixed requirements, preferences, unknowns and questions requiring review.

  3. 03

    Evaluate the route

Compare suitable material, construction, decoration, branding and packing directions.

  4. 04

    Confirm quotation & terms

Align the quoted specification, quantity, sample route, commercial basis and target timing.

  5. 05

    Develop & review

Prepare the required artwork, colour, material, product or packaging references for review.

  6. 06

    Approve in writing

Record the accepted sample, specification, tolerances, labels, packing and remaining conditions.

  7. 07

    Coordinate fulfilment

Manage production, agreed review points, packing, documents and shipment preparation.

SAMPLE DEVELOPMENT

Approve a reference, not only a photograph.

A sample is most useful when the review comments are tied to a written specification. Photographs help communication, but they may not fully show scale, hand feel, construction, colour or product behaviour.

Dimensions

Measurement points and agreed tolerances.

Construction

Materials, components, edges, joins and functional details.

Appearance

Colour reference, print, texture and acceptable variation.

Branding

Artwork, label content, position, barcode and care information.

Pack-out

Unit presentation, protection, set assembly and carton details.

Open points

Any condition not yet approved or still subject to confirmation.

Sample availability, charges, timing, revision scope and shipping are confirmed for the selected product and development route before work begins.

PRIVATE LABEL & PACKAGING

Design the product and its presentation as one customer experience.

Branding and packaging should fit the item, sales channel, destination and packing route. Available materials, formats, minimums and artwork requirements are reviewed with the actual project.

  • 01
    On-product identity

Woven or printed labels, patches, embroidery or another suitable brand application.

  • 02
    Retail information

Hangtags, care content, barcodes, stickers, inserts and required product information.

  • 03
    Unit presentation

Bands, bags, boxes or another appropriate format, subject to the product and channel.

  • 04
    Set & carton logic

Item grouping, colour or size identification, inner packing, outer cartons and shipping marks.

Artwork should be supplied in the agreed format and approved before production use.

FROM APPROVAL TO REVIEW

The approved specification becomes the common reference for production and quality checks.

Review points are selected for the actual material, construction, intended use and order—not copied from a generic checklist. They may include dimensions, construction, appearance, function, labelling, quantity and packing condition.

PREPARE YOUR ENQUIRY

A useful starting brief can fit on one page.

Share what is known and label what is still open. Reference images are useful when accompanied by notes about what you want to keep or change.

CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT FAQ

Useful answers before you start.

Exact feasibility, costs, minimums, sample terms and timing are confirmed for the selected product and enquiry.

Does AUROLRA support both OEM and ODM projects?

AUROLRA supports buyer-led specifications as well as projects that adapt suitable existing product directions. Because OEM and ODM can mean different things to different buyers, the responsibilities, development work, approvals and included services are defined in the quotation or written project documents.

What can be customised?

Depending on the product and route, options may include dimensions, shape, material, construction, colour, print, embroidery, functional details, labels, barcodes, inserts, sets and packaging. No option is assumed to apply to every product; feasibility is reviewed against the actual brief.

Can I send a reference image, artwork or physical sample?

Yes, references can help explain the direction. Please state what should be retained or changed and only supply content you are authorised to use. Physical sample delivery should be agreed with the AUROLRA team before shipment.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimums depend on the product, material, custom process, colour or SKU split, packaging and manufacturing route. Share the estimated quantity early so suitable options can be evaluated rather than applying one generic minimum across all categories.

How long do samples and production take?

Timing varies with specification readiness, material availability, artwork, sample complexity, revision requirements, quantity, season and delivery plan. The applicable sample and production schedule is confirmed after the project scope has been reviewed.

Can you add private labels, barcodes and custom packaging?

These directions can be reviewed as part of the project. Available formats, materials, minimums, artwork requirements, costs and lead-time effects are confirmed before approval. The customer remains responsible for providing accurate authorised brand and barcode content.

Can one collection include table linens, natural fibres and storage products?

A collection can share a visual or commercial direction across categories, but every item still needs its own feasible specification, quantity, sample route, review criteria and packing plan. Production or colour matching across different materials should not be assumed without evaluation.

When is a custom product ready for bulk production?

Bulk production should proceed only after the applicable product specification, sample or reference, artwork, colour, branding, packaging, quantity and commercial terms have been approved in writing, with any remaining limitations clearly recorded.
